Some design advice...
Our design recommendation is to limit the use of the scroll to no more than 15%-25% of your pattern; that is, an "every fourth," "every fifth," or even "every sixth" piece in your pattern. The old adage of "less is more" certainly holds true when creating a pattern with scrolls. You essentially want the pattern to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye upon entering the home, and not going overboard with the scrolls will accomplish that, as well as helping your bottom line cost of your project. Additionally, we often recommend that a "straighter piece" be used on either side of the scroll. The reason for this is because of the generous width of these scrolls, by putting a basket or knuckle (single or double) right next to the scroll, the pattern tends to be too busy. Rather, by separating the scroll with a simpler piece on either side of it (such as V-1, T-1/T-2, or R-1/R-2), the scroll becomes more of the focal point it was meant to be.
