Thick stair treads are installed without risers on usually an exposed stringer design. This is typically seen in a more modern home design.
We can custom produce thick treads in any species of wood, and any thickness up to 6". The number of stiles and face glued pieces would depend on the thickness and species. If you are in need of custom made treads, thick treads, or standard treads, give us a call and let us speak with you before placing your order. We offer local St. Louis pickup on a wide variety of stair parts, such as the rails, newels, wooden baluster, iron balusters, box newels, and routed stringers. We have produced thick stair treads in hickory, alder, white oak, red oak, and a veriety of other species, but can accomodate most requests.
